Summer Lingers On My Skin

by Francesca Guarducci (see more on Instagram @fran15ci)

Late night swims

Chlorine red eyes

2 hours of sleep every night

Alcohol breath

Mixed with Cigarettes

Burnt the couch

Ruined my dress

Midnight rendezvous

Conversations never ending

Sipping moonlight

Barefoot laughter

Spilling into twilight

Sharing truths and revelations

Dancing under constellations

Sweet lips kisses

Crumpled sheets

Dishevelled hair

Clothes scattered everywhere

Bodies shifting like tides

Trying to find each other’s lips in the dark

And giggling when we fail

Morning light breaking

Bags under my eyes

Streets that smell of salt and heat,

Sand between my toes,

Watermelon dripping off my chin,

Coffee and cornetto

Mojito, Camillo

It’s all a blur

Words that only have meaning to us

Water fills my lungs

Plum coloured bruises on my sun kissed skin

A reminder of the fun we’ve had

Dancing till my feet hurt

Shivering till my lips turn blue
